Do non-knitters receive a discount?

This is a chartered cruise exclusively for KNITopia participants. For that reason, everyone will be involved in some capacity, and as such, the price is the same for all guests. Thank you so much in advance for your understanding.

How do I book the KNITopia 2027 Rhine River Cruise?

Can I select my cabin?

Great news — guests can now choose their preferred stateroom on page two of the KNITopia 2027 Rhine River Cruise Booking Form.

How much is the cruise deposit?

The cruise deposit is $1,150 per guest and is fully non-refundable.

How much is the land deposit?

The land deposit is $350 per guest/package and is fully non‑refundable.

What are the payment due dates?

Fifty percent (50%) of your trip cost is due on or before October 4, 2026. The trip balance is due in full by December 18, 2026.

Who are the instructors?

The featured instructors are Melissa Leapman, Franklin Habit, and Casapinka.

I really want to go, but I do not have a roommate yet. What should I put on the form?

You must select solo occupancy on the form — it won’t allow submission for a second person without their details. If you don’t find a roommate, you will be charged the full solo-occupancy rate shown on the KNITopia 2027 Rhine River Cruise Booking Form. We maintain a list of solo travelers seeking to share a room; if you’re interested in being added, please let us know, and we’ll connect you with other travelers looking for a roommate.

Is there a savings for solo passengers?

Guests occupying a room alone will receive a savings of $754 per stateroom.

What is the maximum number of guests allowed per stateroom?

We will allow up to a maximum of two guests per stateroom.

How do I know if my registration has been confirmed?

You will receive a confirmation email from Dream Vacations containing your reservation number, cabin assignment, invoice, and itinerary. We will send these details as soon as possible — please allow two to five business days from the date of submission. If you don’t receive anything within that timeframe, please check your spam folder.

How do I find out more information about the AmaStella?

How can I add LeisureCare Travel Protection to my reservation?

LeisureCare Travel Protection will automatically be applied to your invoice at the time of booking. The cost varies depending on the stateroom selection and the chosen land packages. This can be removed upon request; however, we recommend careful consideration before doing so. Do I need to purchase LeisureCare Luxury Travel Protection right away?

When can I book airfare?

Airfare can be purchased starting 330 days before the return date. Additional instructions will be provided to booked guests at a later date.

I already have my own travel advisor. Can they book the cruise for me instead?

All bookings must be made through Mara Hargarther at Dream Vacations. This is a private charter and is not available for public sale.

What is included with the cruise fare quoted?

The prices quoted include all taxes, fees, gratuities, and beverage packages. Pre- and post-cruise land packages, Airport Transfers, and LeisureCare Travel Protection are available for an additional cost.

Are excursions included in the price?

AmaWaterways includes an array of shore excursions at each port of call. Visit the Cruise Itinerary page here to view a sample of the offerings at each port of call. These will open for booking approximately 60 days before sailing.

What is the cancellation penalty?

Is there a name-change fee?

We will allow one name change free of charge. Any additional name changes will incur a $50 administrative fee.

Do I need to decide right away about the pre- and post-cruise land packages?

The pre- and post-cruise land packages are subject to availability at the time of booking, and pricing is subject to change.

What hotels will we be staying at on the pre- and post-cruise land packages?

Hotels will be confirmed closer to departure. We will contact you as soon as more information becomes available.

Can Dream Vacations assist us with flight reservations?

We will be happy to assist you when flights become available for purchase. Dream Vacations will send an Air Request Form to those interested at a later date.

Are the flights included in the quoted price?

No, flights must be purchased separately at an additional cost.

Are the airport transfers included in the quoted price?

No, airport transfers are not included. We will be able to provide pricing once we have your flight information.

What are the closest major airports to Basel?

The nearest airport is Basel Mulhouse Freiburg (BSL). For a wider selection of flights to cities in the United States and Canada, consider Zurich International Airport (ZRH) as an alternative. Departure transfers from the river cruise port in Basel to both airports will be available for purchase at a later date.

What time can we board the ship in Amsterdam?

Boarding begins at approximately 3:00 pm local time.

When do we need to disembark in Basel?

You will need to vacate your staterooms by 9:00 am local time.

Where will the ship dock in Amsterdam and Basel?

Docking locations in both port cities will be provided with your electronic travel documents.

Can accommodations be made for dietary restrictions or medical conditions?

Do I need a passport?

All guests must have a valid passport that is valid for at least six months from the date of return.

Do I need a visa?

The European Union will soon be implementing the European Travel Information and Authorization System (ETIAS) for all travelers entering from visa-exempt countries. Additional information is forthcoming, and we will update you as we continue to learn more about the new requirements.

What foreign currencies do I need?

Germany, France, and the Netherlands use the Euro (€) as their official currency. Switzerland uses the Swiss Franc (CHF).

How much currency should I bring?

We recommend that you bring $250 - $300 USD worth of Euros (€). Any additional currency can be obtained via an ATM in the destination. Please note that American Express and Discover are not widely accepted in many European countries. Visa and MasterCard are the most common forms of payment.

Is the internet available onboard the AmaStella?

Internet usage is complimentary onboard the AmaStella.

Do I have cellular coverage onboard the ship and in Europe?
